Who each is for
KaiCalls is for businesses that want AI answering at a flat monthly price and already run other software. Plans run from $10 a month (about 20 answered calls) to $349 (about 800), with no per-minute overage. Kai books into Google Calendar or GoHighLevel, connects to software such as ServiceTitan and Jobber, handles up to four languages per line, and you can forward or port your existing number.
2Line.AI is for owners who want the business line itself on their phone, with the receptionist built in. Calls ring in the app, you call and text from the same number, and Mia answers when you can’t: in your business name, booking inside your hours and leaving a slip. Reminders with C/R replies, review requests, quotes and On my way texts come with it.
What a typical day looks like with each
With KaiCalls
A plumbing company that runs on Jobber forwards its main number to Kai. Kai answers, books the job into Google Calendar, and the details reach the company’s other software through the integration. The owner picks the plan that matches a normal month of calls.
With 2Line.AI
A solo plumber on 2Line.AI has no office and no other software. Mia answers the 2Line number with the business name, asks whether water is leaking right now and gets the address. Urgent leaks are handed to you; the rest are booked inside your hours and show on your iPhone Calendar. After the job, mark it done and a review request goes out.
Choose 2Line.AI if
- You want the business line itself on your phone, with Mia built in
- You want reminders (reply C/R), review requests and On my way texts sent for you
KaiCalls may fit better if
- You want a flat monthly price with a set number of answered calls
- You need CRM or field-service software integrations
- You want to keep your current number
- Your callers speak other languages (up to four per line)
Switching from KaiCalls to 2Line.AI
- Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your KaiCalls number moved over.
- Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
- Keep KaiCalls running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
- Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
- Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
- When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel KaiCalls.
If you forward your own number to Kai, it’s still yours. Announce the new 2Line number before you stop forwarding. Step-by-step help for Google is in our guide to changing your Google Business Profile phone number.
What 2Line.AI doesn’t do
Worth knowing before you choose:
- No CRM, Google Calendar or Zapier integrations. Bookings sync to your iPhone Calendar, and leads and slips live in the app.
- No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
- No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
- Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
- No shared team inbox or per-user seats. Each account has one owner, with as many lines as you need.
