Who each is for
Dialpad is for teams and contact centers. It’s an AI business phone platform priced per user (Connect Standard $15 and Pro $25 a user a month billed yearly), with AI Recaps that summarize calls, AI Agents billed per conversation, CRM integrations such as Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho on Pro, and international calling and local numbers in 50+ countries. If you manage people on the phones, it gives you the tools to do it.
2Line.AI is for one owner on their own phone. There’s no per-user pricing and no AI agent to build: Mia is ready once you’ve taught her your business from its name or website. She answers in your business name, books appointments inside your hours, texts the caller what happens next and leaves a slip, and the app handles reminders, review requests and On my way texts.
What a typical day looks like with each
With Dialpad
A ten-person home services office runs on Dialpad. Staff take calls through the platform, AI Recaps note summaries and action items after each one, and the details reach the CRM through its integration. When the team is busy, an AI Agent can answer and take actions such as scheduling. A manager reviews how the day went in the analytics.
With 2Line.AI
A solo handyman on 2Line.AI has no desk and no team. Calls ring in the app on your phone. When you’re on a job, Mia answers with the business name, finds out what needs fixing and where, and books it inside your hours. You read the slips at lunch, send a quote from Mia’s prices, and tap On my way when you leave for the next job.
Choose 2Line.AI if
- You work alone or with a small crew and don’t want per-user pricing
- You want a receptionist that answers and books without building an AI agent
Dialpad may fit better if
- You run a team or contact center that needs CRM integrations and analytics
- You need international numbers or calling
Switching from Dialpad to 2Line.AI
- Pick a new local number in 2Line.AI from the area codes near you. Porting isn’t supported, so this is a new number, not your Dialpad number moved over.
- Set your business name, hours and caller ID name (up to 15 characters). Teach Mia from your business name or website, then call the new number from another phone to test her.
- Keep Dialpad running while you switch, so anyone who still has the old number reaches you. A month or two of overlap is a sensible minimum.
- Tell your customers. Text your regulars from the new number, and change the old number’s voicemail greeting to give the new one.
- Update your Google Business Profile (Edit profile, then Contact, then Phone number), then your website, Apple Maps, Yelp, Facebook, cards and truck.
- When calls to the old number have slowed to a trickle, cancel Dialpad.
If your team depends on Dialpad’s CRM sync, contact-center tools or international numbers, keep those on Dialpad. 2Line.AI fits an owner’s own line, not a call center. Step-by-step help for Google is in our guide to changing your Google Business Profile phone number.
What 2Line.AI doesn’t do
Worth knowing before you choose:
- No shared team inbox or per-user seats. Each account has one owner, with as many lines as you need.
- No CRM, Google Calendar or Zapier integrations. Bookings sync to your iPhone Calendar, and leads and slips live in the app.
- No international numbers or calling. Numbers are US only, for calling and texting US numbers.
- No number porting. You get a new local US number; you can’t move an existing number in.
- Calls, texts and Mia aren’t bundled into the plan; they use credits. At zero credits they pause until you add more, and your number stays yours.
